New Beginnings~

I am again a part of a blog circle.  Our theme this month is "Beginnings".  So, what am I beginning that I can share about!?

First off, I am a part of LifeBook 2013.  I'm looking for a vision this year and I'm hoping that by regularly writing and creating art in my journal I'll learn which dreams and visions to hold on to and which ones to let go of.  I recently took a course by Kelly Rae Roberts about starting a business and online presence.  It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life.  I learned so much that there are times the thoughts are racing around my head like a hamster on a wheel!!!  I also made some of the most amazing friendships from that class.  Friendships that are still touching my life daily.  There are some days I don't know what I'd do without them!!!

The Artist's Way

I'm also committed to going through the book "THE ARTIST WAY" by Julia Cameron.  I read this book a L O N G time ago when it first came out.  My life was overflowing with daily struggles and for one reason or another I never truly embraced what I'd learned and soon the principles (like morning pages) fell by the wayside.  Just when I was starting to see a breakthrough I stopped writing them and never got back to them again.  So, starting this process all over again from the beginning is my goal for this year.

I'm learning more about my word of the year, "LIGHT" each day and this month my visual for this word is this photo:

I want to be a raging fire.  I want to be burning so bright that travelers will be able to see the light of my fire from a long ways off.  I want them to be able to find me, sit a spell with me in front of my fire, and share the burdens of their heart.  I want to warm them with my love.  That is my goal and vision for my One Word this month!

And last, but not least, I have re-Begun a new painting.  It's a new painting from an old painting.  I started this very large painting several years ago and then abandoned when I felt no creative urge to finish it.  I found it in the garage while putting away all the Christmas decorating boxes.  I decided to take it in and finish it.  But when I got it inside and lived with it for a week or so I decided I didn't like it at all anymore.  My skills have grown so much in the past couple of years that I've outgrown everything about this painting.  So, thank God for gesso, I put several coats of gesso on it with texture.  Now I'm starting the canvas all over again with a totally and completely different idea.  And it's saving me money!!!  So I'll be posting progress on that project which will probably take awhile as the canvas is large.

That's about all for now.  I hope you take the time to travel our blog circle and read about the beginnings of my wonderful friends from Kelly Rae Roberts class.  The next one on the list is NAZ. Just click on Naz's name!!!   I hope you enjoy reading about all our "BEGINNINGS" this month!!

HuGGs!

I loved this post. My life right now is about "finishing"-lol. I have so many things started that I have abandoned that I need to focus and finish. I look forward to seeing you create a new painting from your art that you have outgrown. Blessings and hugs to you my friend ♥

Debi,
I hope that you love your new painting + then show us a picture of it! What's cool about painting/gessoing over it, is that that piece of you is still there. The history is in the canvas. And yet, there's a new beginning to it. A fresh coat of paint. I love that.

I love that you want to be a light: and you are. You brighten and warm so many of us. We're all blessed to have you in our lives.

:)

I so LOVE having that visual to go with the word. I forgot what a visual learner I am. Must remember to do that.
